About
The Strand House is a restored historic building located in the Rondout section of Kingston, NY. The brick commercial building was built in the early to mid-1800s during the rise of the D & H Canal Company. The Strand House has been lovingly restored into four individually decorated and thoughtfully appointed units located just a short walk from local restaurants, galleries, bars, and waterfront. Strand House provides a unique and local experience with a boutique feel and at affordable rates.
Unit 1 (Studio) Captain Anderson Suite was named after one of the first owners of the Strand House. Captain Anderson was a steamboat captain along the Hudson River and thus Unit 1 has a nautical theme, without being too cheesy.
Unit 2 (Studio) The Woolsey Suite was named after another Owner of the Strand House. George C. Woolsey was a prominent lawyer and landlord in the Roundout area in the late 1800s. Unit 2 is decorated with a slight nod to art deco.
Unit 3 (2 Bedroom) The Forst Suite was named after Jacob Forst, an immigrant from Germany, who founded the Forst Meatpacking Company in 1901 and who’s house is across the street from the Strand House. Unit 3 has a mid-century modern feel with fun wallpaper patterns in the bedrooms.
Unit 4 (2 Bedroom) The Joyce Suite was named after Corryn’s mom, Joyce Carey, who passed away in 2016 from cancer. Her mother was the one that encouraged her to buy the building and was great at interior design. Corryn decorated it in a style her mom would love, light, pretty, homey, and floral.
All units are available for short-term or long-term rent. Each unit comes with a fully stocked kitchen, bathroom essentials (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and fresh towels)
Access:
Each unit has individual entrances that can be accessed by a code that changes with each renter that is provided to you prior to your stay.. There are also security cameras at each exterior entrance and in the stairwell.
